Our traditions / Handcrafts

Both for geographic and historic reasons, Yucatan’s handcraft production has always been very abundant. Some crafts like stone and wood carving, pottery and sisal rigging, are the result of a tradition dating from pre-Hispanic times. Others, like jewelry and hammock weaving, were introduced after the Conquest, although Yucatecan craftspeople gave them their special touch as time went by.
